I was a Police Officer for 25 years. I worked for a large Sheriff’s department and had a very successful career. I received many awards, promotions and special assignments. I was a Homicide Detective, a Hostage Negotiator and a Police diver. I was awarded Law Enforcement Officer of the year, twice. I received the Medal of Valor. I ended my career as a 1st Lieutenant in charge of the largest district the Sheriff’s Office patrolled.
This is a collection of my life experiences. I will also write about my personal journey to find myself after the career ended, of finding my Peace.
Thanks for visiting…

Hi Mike!
This is John and Christina from New Orleans, we met at Valley View Mountain Springs back in June I believe. I feel like a jerk for getting in contact with you so late and I’m not quite sure on how to write you, but I just wanted to reach out and see how you are doing. We appreciated your company and your gift and our home in New Orleans is open to you. Also, we have some cool pics to show you from our trip which was one of the best we’ve ever been on. Hope all is well.
John
Hey John, Thanks for the invite. You can reach me at michaelofnewmexico@gmail.com too. Peace
Hello Michael,
I have been reading your posts and find them very intriguing. You are very eloquent with intense brain-crushing topics. Do you speak as eloquent as well? Do you ever speak at schools? I’m a teacher and often worry that our children are too disconnected from the world outside of the television. I think hearing a variety of perspectives is important to expand thought processes.
Regardless I have enjoyed reading your posts, even though they wrench at the heart a bit. I hope you are enjoying the “City Different”…. best always,
Julie
Thanks for your kind words Julie. I have spoken before an elementary classroom before, just about light stuff. I salute you for taking on the important task of being a Teacher.
Hi Michael,
We are home from the hotsprings and have missed the early morning comradery of the pools. Now to move onto rentering the usual of our lives.
I really enjoy the photos interspersed with your writing. In part many are images of places that I have seen and loved through my life, as well they create spaciousness to remember to breath when I want to read on, but the content is vivid.
I send a wish for safe journeying, peaceful retrospection, fine, broad companionship, clarity, and the continuing blossoming of your happy 3rd life.
Blessings, Gale like the wind
Do you sell prints of the photos?
Nice meeting you at the hotsprings last weekend. I’ve read some of your writing, very interesting.
I hope your week in Detroit goes well.
